Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims to have insights into Apple's cheaper Vision Pro model and its likely price range.
Gurman says that the slow sales of the Apple Vision Pro prompted company executives to reevaluate the roadmap for this product. This led to the consensus of selling higher and lower-end devices.
Since the Vision Pro occupied the high-end market segment with prices starting from S$5,299, Gurman believes Apple plans to sell the lower-end Vision Pro between US$1,500 (~S$2,029) to US$2,000 (~S$2,706). Although that would be considerably more affordable than the first Vision Pro, it's still not what most people would call affordable.
Aside from reiterating the possible features to drop, Gurman added the cheaper Vision Pro model could be tethered to an iPhone or Mac so that performance and component costs could be lower.
Contrary to a recent report, Gurman thinks Apple is not giving up on the Vision Pro even though the launch of the second-generation model could be pushed back to the end of 2026 at the earliest.
The second-generation Vision Pro has a model number N109 and is said to resemble the first model. Unsurprisingly, it will come with a faster processor, upgrades to the external cameras, and a lighter, more comfortable form factor.
Separately, Apple continues to develop AR-only glasses that are lightweight for users to wear all day. However, don't expect it to be unveiled anytime soon. The launch timeframe is estimated to be around 2027.
