We haven't even seen Apple's rumoured iPhone 17 Air, but we are already hearing rumours of what Apple will do with its ultra-slim iPhone in—get this—2027.
According to famous Apple analyst Kuo, he believes the ultra-slim iPhone could be getting a larger display in 2027.
In a report outlining Apple's iPhone roadmap through 2027, Kuo claims the iPhone 19 Air will sport a bigger display than the iPhone 18 Air.
Assuming the rumours are correct, Apple will unveil an ultra-thin iPhone 17 with a 6.6-inch display later this year. If Apple continues to use a 6.6-inch display on its successor—the iPhone 18 Air—and a 6.9-inch display for the Pro Max model, this means the iPhone 19 Air could sport a display size of 6.7 or 6.8 inches.
Aside from making its future products "the thinnest and lightest in their categories across the world tech industry", Kuo says Apple's strategy to offer more iPhone models and switch to a bi-annual release schedule is a response to "intense competition, particularly in China".
Canalys data for the Chinese market supports Kuo's claims. Apple reportedly had its worst smartphone sales performance in China last year since 2016. The iPhone maker saw a 17% drop in annual shipments and was dethroned by Vivo.
