SilkAir Launches Wireless Inflight Entertainment Trial

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, has commenced a wireless inflight entertainment (IFE) system trial on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft (registration number 9V-SLK).

SilkAir has collaborating with Panasonic Avionics Corporation for this trial to use the company's eXW Wireless IFE solution, allowing travelers stream a wide variety of multimedia content including movies, TV programmes, and music, directly onto their personal devices during their flight. Travelers can access this inflight entertainment content through their laptops, iPhones, iPods, or Android tablets and smartphones. Access to the inflight content, which will complement SilkAir’s existing overhead entertainment system, will be complimentary for customers.
