The mythical foldable smartphone from Samsung could become a reality at the end of the year.

According to ETNews, Samsung has established a detailed schedule on the production of the foldable smartphone. It would be manufacturing the foldable displays in March and mass production will begin in September for a launch in December or early 2019.

Several sources told ETNews that the foldable smartphone will sport a 7.3-inch OLED display which can fold inward, which allows the phone to double as a tablet when required.

Samsung has been rumored for almost three years to be working on foldable smartphones. It has filed patent applications for foldable tablet and smartphone displays, and was previously believed to announce a smartphone and tablet hybrid last year. There was also speculation that Samsung was working on two different foldable phones.

Given the poor track record of these rumors, we will not be holding our breath for the launch at the end of this year.
