Multiple South Korean reports suggest that Samsung and LG Display is close to finalising a deal on OLED TV panels.
Officials from both companies are said to have met recently to discuss the deal, which will see LG Display supplying 1 million panels to Samsung in the second half of the year and increasing the supply to 4 million in 2022. When asked about these reports, Samsung Electronics dismissed them as rumours.
LG is a market leader in OLED TVs. It is a supplier of OLED panels to several companies such as Sony and Hisense. LG Display opened its 8.5th generation OLED panel production plant in China last year, which would double its production capability to 130,000 panels per month.
