Marissa Mayer took over the reigns of Yahoo as CEO some time back and her team for moving the company forward is taking shape. Kathy Savitt, founder and CEO of social commerce site Lockerz has just been appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Savitt has had previous experience in similar roles at American Eagle Outfitters and Amazon.

Yahoo's previous CMO Elisa Steele left the company back in December 2011. Savitt's experience and her efforts in building Lockerz from the ground up to reach 45 million unique users puts her in good stead to take over the role.

The fact that the new appointment has a retail background is quite interesting and we will have to see how that translates to Yahoo's marketing strategies. Kathy Savitt will start work from the 14th of September 2012.
