Quite a lot is happening with Xiaomi over in China. Besides announcing a premium-grade phone chipset that can rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and Apple Silicon, Xiaomi is also launching a phone with it, alongside a host of other gadgets (tablets, air conditioners, refrigerators, and more).
Let’s go into the meat of it.
Xiaomi XRING O1 chipset

The hints, which came just days before Xiaomi’s latest launch, came true. The Chinese electronics brand made its own system-on-chip (SoC) processors, the XRING O1 for smartphones and the XRING T1 for smartwatches. These SoCs mean that Xiaomi has now evolved to another stage of its tech dominance, much like how Huawei once turned heads with its in-house HiSilicon Kirin SoCs.

The XRING O1 is built using a 3nm manufacturing process, combining Xiaomi’s application processor with MediaTek’s baseband. Xiaomi boasts a 10-core CPU (led by two 3.9GHz Cortex-X925) and a 16-core GPU (Immortalis-G925) on XRING O1, promising overwhelming power and graphical performance.
The XRING O1 also has a “4th-generation” image signalling processor (ISP) for photography. Xiaomi claims it can process up to 8.7 billion pixels per second, and it’s further paired with two additional hardware components: a “multi-frame” HDR compute unit and an AI noise reduction chip.

Finally, its 6-core neural processing unit (NPU) handles its onboard AI workload, with 35% more performance and 40% less power consumption, although they didn’t specify what it was comparing against. This NPU is said to offer 44 TOPS of processing.

Separately, Xiaomi said its new smartwatch SoC, XRING T1, which has eSIM support, 35% better 4G connectivity than its unnamed competitors, and offers control over Xiaomi smart vehicles without needing a phone.
The smartwatch SoC will debut in an upcoming release, the Xiaomi Watch S4 15th Anniversary Version. Not much else has been said about the watch, although we know its regular Watch S4’s functions from its previous launch.

The new Xiaomi 15S Pro joins the Xiaomi 15 series of flagship handsets. It contains the XRING O1 chipset instead of the usual Qualcomm/MediaTek ones.
Also, the XRING O1 is not the only Xiaomi-made chip inside this phone. It also has the Surge P3 chipset for efficient battery use.
Like its 15-series siblings, the cameras are Leica-branded. It packs a 50MP main camera (23mm equivalent, OIS), a 50MP telephoto (120mm, OIS, 30cm macro support), and a 50MP ultrawide (14mm, 5cm macro support, AutoFocus).

Other specs of Xiaomi 15S Pro are its 6.73-inch AMOLED display (3,220 x 1,440 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision), its UFS 4.1 storage (512GB and 1TB), the LPDDR5T RAM (16GB), a 6,100mAh battery, and support for UWB connectivity.
Currently, the Xiaomi 15S Pro is only available in China at CNY5,499 (~S$979.62) onwards, in Xiaomi Composite Fiber and Sky Blue colourways.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra

The Xiaomi tablet range is getting the same treatment. It introduced the flagship-tier Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra with XRING O1 chipset, making it sit on top of its tablet pile against Qualcomm-backed Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro.
The Ultra is far larger than its regular and Pro variants. It has a whopping 14-inch OLED panel (3,200 x 2,136 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate) paired with high-end storage/RAM components (LPDDR5T and UFS 4.1). The set also includes a humongous 12,000mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging.
Like the phone, Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is currently only available in China at CNY5,699 (~S$1,015.44) onwards. It has RAM/Storage configurations of 12+256GB, 12+215GB, 16+1TB, and two colours (Classic Black, Misty Purple).
Other appliances

Other Mijia-branded smart home appliances are also launching alongside the new chipsets, phones, and tablets. Sadly, their thunder is stolen since these appliances are reasonably interesting and practical.
The Mijia Fresh Air Conditioner Pro Dual-Outlet Vertical 3HP is a standing air conditioner with a HEPA filter. The unique standing orientation lets Xiaomi give it 160° air delivery and multi-directional zone control. Retailing at CNY8,999 (~S$1,603) in China.
Mijia Air Conditioner Pro SkyFlow 1.5HP is an updated aircon model that automatically detects people to make use of its 180° range airflow. It also has an integrated HEPA filtration system. CNY 3,999 (~S$712.54) in China.
The Mijia Refrigerator Pro Dual-System French Door Built-In 508 L offers separate evaporators for its fridge and freezer compartments, has a humidity control drawer, and -30°C deep freeze for really sensitive groceries. CNY4,999 (~S$890.72).
