IT Show 2007 - The Full Coverage
After four long months since the last fair and two major holiday seasons (namely Christmas + New Year and Chinese New Year), the IT Show is a highly anticipated event where many are awaiting to feast themselves on what this fresh year has to offer for their upgrading spree. And most certainly, IT Show 2007, Singapore's largest IT, digital and consumer electronics exhibition is expected to deliver this as it spans three levels of the Suntec City Exhibition Center offering an exceptionally wide array of products for everyone's needs. Opened daily from 12 noon to 9pm from the 8th to the 11th March, read on to see what's in store for you as we scoured the entire exhibition to bring you this full coverage.
Acer and Active Foto's Booths
Utilitarian looking, this Aspire 5572AWXMi uses an Intel Core Duo T2250 processor and comes with 1GB of memory and a 120GB hard drive. As with many Acer products, the lure is in its attractively low price of $1658.
If you're looking for a budget Intel Core 2 Duo based notebook, the Aspire 5583WXMi is a decent choice given its competitive pricing of $1798.
Yes, for $1398, you'll get to experience Windows Vista Home Premium on a budget notebook like the Aspire 5612ZWLMi, which uses a dual-core Intel T2060 processor along with 1GB of system memory and a 80GB hard drive. Just about adequate for students and other less demanding users.
$399 for a 20-inch LCD was unthinkable not too long ago but with the trend favoring widescreen LCDs, the prices of 4:3 monitors like this has fallen to more affordable levels.
Acer's largest widescreen LCD offering is this 22-inch 5ms display. Only 10 sets are available for the special low price of $499 and Acer will throw in a free (token) USB fan. It's quite a good deal considering this LCD is priced at $549 usually.
Despite its slim form factor, the Aspire Mini PC can be configured with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and a 320GB SATA hard drive. The only downside is that it comes with onboard graphics. You do get a 19-inch LCD monitor and free gifts like a 2GB SD card and speakers. The price - $1999.
The MP3 Game Player from Active Foto is a pretty funky device that can play movies, MP3 files and even run emulated games. The 512MB and 1GB version goes for S$115 and $135 respectively.
We could hardly tell the difference between the MP4 player and a very similar offering from Apple. Even the packaging was identical. The 1GB and 2GB versions go for S$99 and S$119 respectively.
Row after row of computer memory sticks going for great prices are neatly laid outside Active Foto's booth (6271).
Apple's Booth
There's no mistaking the iconic white decor of the Apple booth.
For those who have the impression that Apple equals expensive hardware, the iMac may change your mind. The 17-inch version with a 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 160GB of storage is only priced at $1688.
"To open up your life, open a Mac." Or that's what the Apple marketing folks are telling us. For starters, you can try out this MacBook. Prices start from $1889 to $2588.
Freebies included with every MacBook Pro worth up to $336.
A flourishing industry has sprung up creating accessories and other Apple related products. This radial speaker from JBL is but one of many such iPod speaker docks available at the Apple booth.
We have all seen this series of adverts where the Apple gets to single out the flaws of the PC but if you haven't, here's your chance to get a dose of Apple propaganda.
aigo, Akira and ASUS' Booths
aigo didn't fail to make an appearance and showed up with all their latest gadgets. Their latest Pocket Video Player F988 sports a 2.4-inch LCD screen and built-in camera on the flipside. Top up S$10 with the purchase and you can an aigo E063 speaker set as well.
aigo offered a very interesting device - a charger that juices up your digital audio players, mobile phones, PDAs and digital cameras using just sunlight. The Solar Charger S1100 can be had for S$99.
aigo also has a cool looking digital photo frame that offers a 6.5-inch color LCD and built-in speakers that can perform slideshows accompanied by MP3 music. The Digital Photo Frame A396 can be had for S$199.
Akira LCT-32CH01ST was seen at the show as one of their best buy LCD TVs going for only S$899 with a free pair of wireless headphones valued at S$99. The LCD TV has HDMI input, 1366x768 resolution and a 500-nits brightness rating.
The familiar ASUS logo is prominently displayed at its large booth, where one can find plenty of notebooks and other consumer electronics. A piece of good news for shoppers - ASUS has a zero bright dot warranty policy for all notebooks purchased here at the show.
ASUS' new series of gaming notebooks, the G1 and G2 notebooks all come with powerful graphics of the GeForce Go 7700 or Radeon Mobility X1700 class. Even the WASD keys on the keyboard have been helpfully highlighted in red to give gamers another visual cue. They are predictably more expensive than the typical notebook, with the G2 starting from $3888.
Ban Leong and Brother's Booths
This set of THX certified Altec Lansing MX5021 speakers with its very sexy piano slick finishing were spotted going for S$219 at Ban Leong's booth.
Ban Leong went all out with their range of Belkin wireless routers. Seen here is the Belkin G+ MIMO router going for S$119.
If you fancy new fangled technologies, then you might want to take a look at the newer Draft N products by Belkin, including this N1 Wireless Modem Router. The sale price is set at $289.
What's a router without a corresponding adapter to go around. The Belkin N1 Wireless USB adapter looks great, supports the newest Draft N standards and being USB means great portability, all for S$159.
Plantronic's award winning Pulsar Bluetooth stereo headsets are available from Ban Leong's booth. The Pulsar 590A are going for S$319 while the lower range Pulsar 590E was found at S$195.
The ultimate Blutooth mobile headset, Plantronic's limited edition Discovery 655 Diamond has a set price of S$699, but apparently you can only see the set at Ban Leong's booth as it is only available for preview at the moment.
Best buy material from Brother. Their DCP-115C entry-level all-in-one color printer, scanner, copier is going for a steal of a price at $88 with a three year warranty as well.
If you're looking for something a little more high end, the Brother DCP-7010 multi-functional printer might just be the thing. Winner of a HWM Gold Award, this printer is on sale for S$298 and comes with free gifts too.
Another HWM Gold Award winner, the Brother HL-2040 is an incredible entry laser printer for personal use. It may be just a monochrome printer, but the HL-2040 has a 20ppm print speed, good resolution and comes with a 3-year carry-in warranty, all for $S178 with free gifts.
Best Bargain and Bizgram's Booths
One of the longest queues we saw at the IT show (besides the Microsoft Vista/Office offer) was at the Best Bargain booth, where many were lining up to snap up the cheap flash memory on sale.
Are these the best flash memory prices at the IT show? The long queue of shoppers seems to think so.
The price difference between PC533 and PC667 DDR2 RAM is just a dollar. It's obvious which is our choice then.
Selected range of Buffalo external hard disks were seen at Bizgram. The most attractive model was probably the 250GB DriveStation going for S$129 only. The price includes the external casing, the 250GB HDD plus additional free gifts as well. Check them out.
Besides Buffalo, Bizgram had a whole chuck load of Maxtor and Seagate portable HDD for sale. Here, the 60GB Maxtor Mini One Touch 3 USB 2.0 HDD with password protection and encryption features only costs S$99.
BenQ's Booth
Canon's Booth
Canon is making its presence felt with a giant booth. The red neon sign doesn't hurt too.
The newest addition to the Canon Selphy family of compact photo printers is the ES1, with a larger 2.5-inch LCD screen and is now selling at $399.
Meanwhile, the older Selphy CP730 is as portable as it looks and retails for $249.
This Canon Pixma MP160 Photo All-in-One is very popular, thanks to an attractive trade-in price of $149.
Shopping vouchers further sweeten the deal for these Canon projectors, which are already selling below its usual prices.
For the rare customer with specialized needs, Canon has these commercial large format printers on offer.

This is just one of two price lists for Canon's huge range of products at its booth. Extended warranties and product training courses for customers are some of the other 'extras' provided besides the lower prices.
These camcorders from Canon all have up to 35x optical zoom. The cheapest MD 120 starts from $599 and goes up to $899 for the MD 160. The extras also get more lavish for the more expensive models.
The popular Canon EOS 400D kit is available at $1699 and free gifts include a 2GB CF card, a camera bag, a Seagate 6GB pocket flash and a tripod.
Casio, Chamoxa and Compaq's Booths
The latest Casio EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-V7 is probably the world's slimmest compact digital camera with a 7x optical zoom. It even comes with mechanical CCD shift stabilization technology to compensate for photo blurs. Look for a good deal now at the IT Show for $699 with a free bag and 2GB memory card among its gifts.

The ASUS DRW-1814BLT has got to be one of the most attractive DVD writers out there today. With 18x writing speeds, LightScribe functionality and SATA interface, the drive is only going for S$75 at Chamoxa's booth. It is even bundled with two LightScribe discs for your to mess around with. The Compaq Presario C503TU Notebook PC was probably one of the most affordable notebooks around at S$1,199. Packed with an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2060, 512MB RAM and 80GB HDD, this notebook gives its competitors a run for its money. A free HP OJ4355 printer is also thrown in free with each Compaq Presario C503TU Notebook PC purchased. A very decent deal indeed for decently spec'ed workhorse.
The Compaq Presario SR5070CF Desktop PC is also a pretty reasonable deal at S$1,199. It comes bundled with a 17-inch LCD display and is powered by an Intel Pentium 4 processor 631, 512MB DDR2 RAM and 160GB 7,200RPM SATA HDD.
Corbell and Corega's Booths
For the hardcore enthusiast, the Corsair Dominator series of high performance memory is available at the Corbell booth.
Rated at 620W, this PSU from Corsair costs $285, making it one of the more expensive PSUs from Corbell.
This demonstration system shows that you can assemble a complete PC using components distributed solely by Corbell.
Capable of playing MP3 & MP4, the Zling Studio is a portable player with a 3.6-inch color TFT LCD display. It has a capacity of 1GB and accepts SD/MMC cards. For the IT show only, it's selling at $189 instead of its usual price of $239.
One of the top sellers in Japan when it comes to networking products, Corega still has some distance to make up before it can boast the same in Singapore. Nevertheless, this fresh and colorful booth certainly helps attracts attention and does its cause good.
Corega will throw in a free omni-directional antenna with every purchase of its Super G 108M wireless router and USB adaptor bundle at $125.
Corega's super high performance MISO wireless broadband router is competitively priced at $99. Corega claims that its range is up to 6 times more than general 802.11g products.
These pairs of VoIP USB phones are suitable for use with Skype, MSN or Yahoo. Best of all, each pair is priced at only $48.
Creative, Dell and Dopod's Booths
Spotted at Creative's booth was a sneak preview of the new Creative Fatality headphones. This new model is much sleeker then its processor and has a removable microphone. Pricing of this headphone is not available yet, but the older ones are available at S$149.
The ZEN V Plus has been updated with a new model that comes with a new design and capacity. The new model will come in Black or Blue with chrome joysticks and also have an 8GB capacity. The new Zen V Plus will be available for S$299.
The Xmod which lets you experience sound from your notebook or MP3 player that is 'beyond studio quality' was a show puller at Creative's booth and can be had for S$139.
Did you know that this sleek new 27-inch Dell UltraSharp 2707WFP wide screen LCD was designed right here in Singapore? This incredible powerhouse of a monitor is HDCP compliant for your High-Def needs and works at a resolution of 1,920x1,200. It is on sale at the IT Show right now for an affordable S$1699.
Dell has its full range of Inspiron notebooks up for sales from the low-end Inspiron 1501 to the entertainment 'powerhouse' 17-inch Inspiron 9400. Featured here is the multimedia minded Inspiron 9400, starting from just S$2449. Pay an additional S$600 and you can double your RAM to 2GB RAM and convert it into a gaming machine with a powerful GeForce Go 7900 GPU.
Looking for a value for money Windows Vista capable desktop PC? Consider Dell's Dimension E521, which is powered by an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual core processor. The PC is on sale for only S$1099. The package even comes with a 19-inch LCD monitor and a Dell A525 2.1 speaker system.
Dell faces an uphill fight with other printer brands by putting up their Photo All-In-One Printer 926 for sale, but you get to grab this handy printer, scanner and copier all in one unit for only S$99 with purchase of any Dell Dimension desktop or Inspiron notebook during the IT Show.
Dopod's slimmest PDA phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, the C800, is retailing for $1,198 with free 1GB MicroSD memory card, screen protector and a Canon iP6320D photo printer that is worth $279!
EastGear and Epson's Booths
With the current financial status of BenQ Siemens, it was interesting to note that this P51 mobile phone is still selling here at the IT show. This is a Quadband GSM phone with a 1.3 megapixel camera and a built-in GPS receiver and should set you back by $898.
This external hard drive enclosure comes with a fingerprint recognition sensor to secure your data. It is priced at $69 for the enclosure alone.
Equipped with a 400MHz Samsung processor, the $999 glofiish X500 is a Quadband GSM phone with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also comes with GPS and a 2-megapixel camera.
For those who can't do without GPS while traveling, the Mio P550 GPS PDA is your answer. Included with this $699 PDA is a free copy of Mapking for Singapore and Malaysia.
This small wireless router from La Fonera only shares internet access wirelessly. There are no ports for wired connections. It will also automatically share internet access with other La Fonera routers within range. It's portable and suitable for those intending to use VoIP on the go. What's best is its $39 price.
The Epson Stylus CX2900 is bound to be a hit, due to its low price of just $98. Despite its budget nature, it can print up to 23 pages per minute.
Buy this Epson ultra portable high luminance (2000 ANSI) projector and you'll get a free Dopod S300 worth $399. But before that, prepare to pay $1799 to take home this multimedia projector.
Print onto your CD/DVD-Rs with the Epson Stylus Photo RX590. It supports direct printing with PictBridge, card slots, infra-red and Bluetooth. A speed of 30 pages per minute makes this a very capable all-in-one printer priced at $348.
FujiFilm and Fujitsu's Booths
HP's Booth
HP had a huge presence at the IT Show this time with up to three large booths spread across the halls. One of the highlights was its sexy looking A5090D desktop that is going for only S$1,499. This monster comes with a 19-inch widescreen LCD, Intel Pentium D processor 915, Microsoft Vista Home Basic Edition, 512MB DDR2 RAM and a 160GB 7,200RPM SATA HDD. A free HP LaserJet Printer 4355 worth S$199 is thrown in with purchase.
The Pavilion tx1005AU Notebook PC is one of the latest offerings from HP. A tablet notebook with strong multimedia functions, this baby will provide you with plenty of entertainment with its AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile processor T56, Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 1GB DDR2 RAM and 120GB HDD.
The HP iPAQ rw6828 Titanium Multimedia Messenger at S$899 is surely one of the star buys of the show. A free upgrade to 3 years Return-to-HP warranty worth $150, 1GB miniSD card, extra stylus, extra battery, sync cable and a 'Sure Win' scratch and win card is thrown in with purchase!
The Pavilion DV series of notebooks from HP is certainly sexy and only made more appealing with a low price of S$2,399 for this 15-incher and a bundle of attractive options that include a free 512MB RAM upgrade, Maxtor 80GB mini HDD, 1GB thumb drive and so on. An alternative bundled option noted was an instant S$100 cash rebate packed other miscellaneous freebies. Get down to booth 8150 for the full details!
The HP PHOTOSMART C6180 ALL-IN-ONE printer won HWM's Gold Award for its competence and is available for only S$448 at the show. With 32ppm (black) and 31ppm (color) capabilities, a 2.4-inch color display, built-in wireless networking and an automatic document feeder, there is little more to ask for from an all-in-one.
Priced at an eye-popping S$98, the HP PHOTOSMART D5160 printer is a steal. The usual price for this printer is S$179.
iRiver and i.Tech's Booths
The iRiver e10 is a pretty nifty device that can handle MPEG1/2/2.5 Layer 3, WMA, ASF,OGG Q10 and even MPEG4. FM radio is in-built and its firmware is upgradeable. The 6GB version is going for S$399.
The sporty looking T10 that supports MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG Q10, FM Radio and voice recording can playback for 53hrs on AA batteries. The 512MB, 1GB and 2GB version is going for S$99, S$179 and S$249 respectively.
The iRiver H10 (middle) was spotted amongst many other iRiver players. Its large 20GB capacity makes it a boon for music lovers and can be had for only S$449.
iTech made a strong appearance at the IT Show 2007 along with some great deals.
The i.Tech Clip D is a favorite amongst those that enjoy the benefits of A2DP (Bluetooth Audio). Compact, robust and affordable at S$98, the i.Tech Clip D is not to be missed.
The Clip II mini headset is small, compact and goes for a decent price of S$78.
Kaira and Kodak's Booths
Kaira's booth is a vivid explosion of color extorting the brands carried by the distributor.
One of the lesser known brands locally, this Biostar Tforce 965P board for Intel Core 2 Duo processors is priced at $169.
For cheaper low-end cards like this GeForce 7100 GS, XFX uses small and cute packaging that reminds us of toys.
$39 for this Logitech MX518 optical gaming mouse is a steal. Grab it before they are all gone. We bought a few ourselves.
Definitely a board for those who like to keep their options open, the ASRock ConRoe Xfire e-SATA 2 supports everything from Pentium and Celeron D to Intel Core 2 Duo. It's also CrossFire ready and proudly carries the Windows Vista Premium logo.
XFX's GeForce 8800 GTS is priced at $479 for the 320MB version, making it one of the most affordable GeForce 8 cards you can find now.
The 8-megapixel Kodak V803 offers 3X optical zoom, a 2.5-inch color display, anti-blur image stabilizer and up to 22 scene modes. This camera is going for S$399 at Kodak's booth (8336).
This 7.1-megapixel Kodak EasyShare Z710 Zoom Digital Camera offers 10X optical zoom with its Schneider-Kreznach Variogon lens, a 2-inch color display and can take MPEG4 video. It is priced at S$599 and comes with a Kodak Case, 2GB SD Card and a 150-inch tripod.
LeMon and Lenova's Booths
LeMon made an appearance at the IT Show 2007 with their colorful booth.
The Xcite-7000 is LeMon's latest offering. This unique gadget can play MP3s, videos, record voices, image files and even play downloaded NES games on its 4.2-inch LCD display. Note that the screen itself can be detached from the controller to double as a sleek, portable media player. The 1GB and 2GB version goes for S$399 and S$459 respectively.
In the MP3 player section, a wide selection of players was available in assorted colors and capacities to match your whim. We noted another player that looked somewhat similar to Apple's iPod Nano.
The colorful Divoom IQ-707 speakers were going at only S$35, that's nearly 50% off the usual price.
Lenovo has been surprising everyone with their well designed systems recently and the Q100 is a good example. Sporting a Pentium D Processor 925, 19-inch LCD, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, ATI X1300 Pro 256MB graphic card and spanking good looks, this desktop is quite irresistible. Its price however comes with a slight premium at S$1,599.
The 14.1-inch Lenovo Y400 has a very unique touchpad that is flushed with the notebook. Looks aside, it comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 100GB SATA HDD and an nVidia GeForce GO 7300 graphics solution. Priced at S$1,599, it's a pretty decent deal.
LG's Booth
This 19-inch LCD display has a fast 2ms response rate and a high 3000:1 contrast. LG also has a zero bright dot policy of three years for this $559 monitor, along with a free gift of a MP4 player.
At $599, this 22-inch widescreen LCD display has a 8-bit panel and HDCP support.
$469 is a very attractive price for a 20-inch widescreen LCD like the L204WT. LG gives buyers the choice of either a keyboard and mouse set or a 1GB SD memory card as free gifts.
The LG C1 is a 10.6-inch handy touchscreen tablet PC with Windows Vista Business edition pre-installed. A GeForce Go 7300 graphics chipset gives it decent performance and 1GB of DDR2 RAM plays its part. However, it may be out of the reach of most consumers, since it's priced at a $3999. You do however get goodies worth up to $858, including a Skype phone and wireless mouse.
Logitech's Booth
Logitech's booth (6138) was probably one of its biggest in recent memory and can be found on the sixth floor.
The hottest buy there is most likely the MX-518 mouse that was thought to have been extinct. At S$39, it�s definitely a steal! Last we saw, the mice were literally flying off the shelves. In fact, we got a few for ourselves. In case the mice at this booth runs out, Kaira's booth (6601) also sells these mice at a similar price.
Other mice were at the show with great prices too. For those looking forward to a cheap G5 mouse, the Battlefield 2142 Edition was strangely priced S$20 less then the vanilla version but with the same amount of features.
We had our doubts about the S$169 G15 keyboard bundle even though it 'came' with S$100 worth of goodies. Some would just prefer getting the keyboard on its own. Also spotted was Logitech's G25 wheel which was priced at a cool S$489.
The Logitech Dinovo edge - one of the most expensive keyboards to grace Singapore at S$399.
The Logitech Harmony 885 universal remote control - another rich man's toy at S$499.
Who said gaming in Singapore was dead? Spotted at Logitech's booth was Singapore's very own Bf.Nut. This group of homegrown gamers that beat countries all over Asia, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, South Africa and many others to come out the Battlefield 2142 Champions of APAC. Oh�and if you and a partner can survive a beating from these folks at the booth in BF2142, you might just walk away with Logitech gaming mice and keyboards as prizes.
Microsoft's Booth
It was about two hours before the doors to IT Show 2007 opened, but a large crowd was already streaming towards the venue.
All successful shows cannot go without long queues, but this one formed 3 hours before even the show started.
Following the long winding queue to its source, we discovered what all these folks were queuing up for - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade edition and Microsoft Office Home and Student edition 2007 for only S$99 each. (Editors note: Lighting in the area was dim, but we were surprised at how the coupons seemed to emit a bright white glow in the picture�)
But soon after, we found this sign put up to the disappointment of many. Thankfully queue tickets were given out soon after to avoid any misunderstandings and bottled water were distributed to keep those in the queue cool - great handling on Microsoft's part.
We had to find out which geek was first to the holy grail of operating systems and were flabbergasted to find a pair of sisters at the head of the queue. Elycia, 17, Student (left) and Renee 21, Student (right) were there since 8am that morning.
The MC promptly handed out coupons which entitled them to the S$99 Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade and Office Home and Student 2007 and an 'exclusive' pack of Microsoft WOW tissue to the ladies at 12pm.
In case you are wondering why so many folks are paying such deep interest in a tour of Office 2007, Microsoft was giving out plenty of freebies hourly for answering simple questions. Prizes included coupons to purchase Microsoft software at heavily discounted prices.
This picture pretty much speaks for itself. There are plenty of Microsoft deals for everyone.
Microsoft certainly wasn't going to let Sony's Playstation 3 steal its thunder. It was letting the XBOX 360 Pro go for only S$560 after a S$100 cash back deal. This of course only applied to the first 100 customers.
NEC, Netgear, Nikon and Nokia's Booths
Priced for the budget conscious at S$1,499, the 14.1-inch wide screen NEC VERSA L2100 1601DRC offers a fine balance of performance and price. Packed within is an Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor T2060, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. An IT Show trade-in price of S$1,119 is also available.

Well this image of Netgear's Super Wireless ADSL Modem Routers and Ethernet adapters more or less speaks for itself. Grab these NETGEAR products fresh from the IT Show 2007.
We also spotted this S$99 Netgear 54Mpbs Wireless Game Adapter. It has got some pretty nifty functions to select between Internet gaming or between consoles within your home.
Nikon's entry-level D40 DSLR system is still one of the more affordable cameras for the budding photographer. Its 6.1-Megapixel sensor may not be up to par with the big boys, but at S$1188 for a full DSLR kit, it is hard to beat. Like most offers at the Show, expect to get a host of freebies along with your purchase as well.
The D200 mid-range DSLR is the one that begins to set apart the pros from the wannabes. Its 10.2-Megapixel sensor, fast 5fps shooting mode and rugged magnesium alloy body are features that make it stand out from the rest. At the IT Show, the D200 is going for S$2588 and comes with a free AF 50mm f1.8D lens, Lowepro bag, two 2GB CF cards and a whole lot more.
Nikon showcased two of their newer compact digital cameras at their booth, the Coolpix L10 (5.0-Megapixel) and L11 (6.0-Megapixel). Besides the difference in resolution, the L11 has a slightly larger LCD at 2.4-inch compared to the 2.0-inch of the L10. Otherwise, these two cameras are almost identical in features. They are on sale for S$279 and S$329 respectively and comes with a whole host of free gifts you don't want to miss out on.
Nokia's latest phone, the E65 despite having a less powerful camera is priced almost the same as the N73 at S$688.
O2, Olympus, Packard Bell and Panasonic's Booth
O2's latest phones, the Xda Atom Life, O2 Graphite and Xda Zinc are available at the IT Show for S$1,428, S$798 and S$1,298 respectively.
The Xda Atom Exec (middle) and Xda Stealth (right) were spotted to be going for S$998 and S$798 respectively. The Xda Atom Exec comes with a free XM-02 infrared keyboard and leather pouch worth S$128 while the Xda Stealth comes with free Agis navigator 3D software worth S$128.
Still holding the record for the highest zoom range with an amazing 18x optical zoom, the Olympus SP550UZ prosumer digital camera is available from the show floor for S$849 with two 1GB xD cards bundled, a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements and other great gifts.
The Olympus u770SW digital camera makes an ideal gadget for the avid adventurer, especially if you're into snorkling and backpacking. This 7.1-Megapixel camera is waterproof up to 10m, shockproof up to 1.5m, freeze-proof up to negative 10 degrees Celsius and can withstand up to 100kg of crush force. Is it worth the S$699 price tag? Check it out at the IT Show and make your decision.
It looks like Packard Bell is making a comeback. The 14-inch EASYNOTE GN45-017 notebook sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 processor, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 80GB HDD and an integrated 1.3MP webcam. Priced at S$1,598, this notebook is highly competitive but only comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2.
The 12-inch EASYNOTE BU45-013 notebook sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 100GB HDD, integrated 1.3MP webcam and goes for S$1,998. This notebook comes installed with Microsoft Vista Home Premium.
Making a local appearance for the first time, the Panasonic HDC-SD1 High-Definition camcorder with a 3CCD sensor records in the new AVCHD format for unparalleled resolution and video quality. It is retailing now for $2,199 with some great gifts such as two 4GB SDHC memory cards and more.
The DMC-FZ8 (7.2-Megapixel), the smallest Panasonic prosumer camera with a 12X optical zoom, is retailing now for $749. If you are looking a similar 12X zoom camera with more megapixel count, you can also consider Panasonic's DMC-FZ50 (10.1-Megapixel) at $1,049.
This is the largest High-Definition TV displayed at the IT Show 2007. Watching movies on Panasonic's 103-inch Plasma TV is akin to being in the cinema, only closer. However, this set is there only for display and not for sale, so you can hold of breaking your piggy banks just yet. If you're wondering, it's asking price is just a sliver under $100K.
The Panasonic TH-50PV600H Plasma TV with its two HDMI inputs and 1366x768 resolution is ready for any home entertainment system gearing up for HDTV. The TV is retailing for S$6999 with free NTUC/Robinson vouchers valued at up to S$800 and a 5-year Best Denki Safety warranty.
Pentax and Philips' Booths
Perhaps the most attractive digital camera offer in the whole IT Show this year is the Pentax Optio M20, a 7-Megapixel digicam that comes bundled with a 2GB SD card, camera case, cleaning kit, LCD protector and batteries included. This camera has been spotted for an unbelievable price of only S$199. Grab it while its hot!
Philips 19-inch 19CW7 series of monitors offer a great entry-level wide screen solution with a 5ms response time, 850:1 contrast ratio and 300-nits brightness. The monitor has both VGA and DVI input and is on sale for S$329.
19-incher not big enough for you? Then maybe the 20-inch wide screen 200WB7ES is your choice. This business capable monitor has a pivot function, 1680x1050 resolution and comes with a free Philips CD130 Dect phone. The price: S$539.
Looking for a high tech universal remote control? You may want to drop by and check out the Philips SRU9600/17 going for S$199.
Pioneer and Ricoh's Booth
Pioneer is one of the few vendors pushing plasma technology and there is no doubt that it is also one of the best, with some of the largest and most advanced models in the market.
Pioneer's new HTP-GS1 5.1 channel surround sound system for the XBox 360 is available for shoppers to test. If you're hooked, $499 is required to bring it home.
There are limited Pioneer plasma display sets for sale at very low prices. However, there will be a ballot to decide who will get these units.
Life's more intense in HD. (Hmmm...)
A Blu-ray player was present but unfortunately for us, no demo was running when we were at the booth. Maybe you will have better luck.
Only limited sets of these HDD based DVD recorders are available at these special prices. The 250GB DVR630H-S is usually priced at $1099.
Ricoh has a special preview of the brand new Caplio R6, the world's thinnest 7.2-Megapixel camera with a 7.1x optical wide angle zoom, measuring a 20mm thin compact body. Sadly, the camera is only available for pre-order and will only arrive in the coming weeks. Pre-order pricing at the IT Show is at S$699 or S$599 after a S$100 trade-in rebate for your used camera.
