Hard disk drives offering 6TB of storage are not new - Seagate and Western Digital already them. But Toshiba has just announced its first 6TB hard disk drives, targeted at enterprise users.
The new drives, available in SATA and SAS models, will form part of Toshiba's MG04 series and will come in a standard 3.5-inch form factor. Additionally, they will spin at 7200rpm and will feature Toshiba's persistent write cache technologies, which was designed to help protect against data loss in the event of a sudden power outage.
Toshiba will start sampling the drives to OEM partners in early 2015.
