LG is considering to supply OLED panels for the MacBook

The Apple 14-inch MacBook Pro.

LG Display could be the future supplier of OLED panels for the Apple MacBook.

TheElec claims that LG Display has been testing the deposition process for its Gen 8.5 OLED panels at Sunic System's facility at Paju since December 2021.

As the evaluation process is expected to take a year to complete, LG Display is aiming to supply the Gen 8.5 OLED panels for the first OLED MacBook in 2025. TheElec says Samsung Display could be the first to commercialise Gen 8.5 OLED as Samsung Electronics is a major customer.

Earlier this month, TheElec reported that LG Display is developing two models of OLED panels for the iPad Pro. LG Display is expanding its plants in South Korea to double the production of its 6th-gen OLED panels. While the OLED MacBook may not arrive until 2025, OLED iPads are slated to launch in late 2023 or 2024.
